NOTICE OF RACE
RULES
The Regatta will be governed by the 2021-24 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of US Sailing, the ISSA Procedural Rules (PR), the MISSA By-Laws and District Rules, this Notice of Race, and these Sailing Instructions.
ELIGIBILITY
This is a Tier 3 regatta. Competing schools must be members of MISSA.
A “Team” shall be made up of a minimum of 4 sailors, between the grades of 7-12. Mixed teams (comprised of students from different schools) are permitted.
The regatta will consist of A and B divisions of 420’s. The regatta will be a round robin format and the divisions will rotate boats after every two races. A full team shall be comprised of a skipper and crew for A and B divisions.
BOATS
12 Club 420s shall be provided and raced as provided. It may be requested for teams to bring sails.
Boats will be checked in and out upon launch and pullout. Any previously existing damage should be reported upon launching. Any new damage should be reported between races or upon pullout.
FEES
The entry fee is $30 per competitor. It includes a light breakfast and lunch for all sailors and one coach. Payment will be onsite during check-in. Please make checks out to “Bath Community Schools”.
A $250 refundable damage deposit check must be submitted by each team at registration the morning of the regatta. In the event damage cannot be attributed to a particular team, the repair costs will be divided evenly amongst all the competing teams. Checks should be made payable to “Bath Community Schools”. Checks will be returned at the end of the regatta.
Entry deadline is Friday, April 12th by 5 p.m.
SCHEDULE:
9:00 a.m. Check in/registration, rigging
9:30 a.m. Skippers Meeting
10:00 a.m. First warning signal
No race shall start after 3:00 pm
Awards Presentation afterward
COACHING
Coach boats are allowed.
There will not be coach boats available for loan.
AWARDS
Awards will be presented to the Top 3 in the A, B, and overall divisions.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Will be available on the white board in the pavilion.
COURSES
Will be in accordance with ISSA PR.
SCORING
Scoring will be done in accordance with ISSA PR.
All completed races will be counted.
Breakdown points will not be awarded.
SAFETY
All competitors must wear USCG approved Type III or Type V wearable life jackets.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY
Sailing is an activity that has inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race and ISSA PR 1.3.
The race organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, or any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.
RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
By participating in this event, competitors automatically grant to the Organizing Authority and the event sponsors the right, in perpetuity, to make, use and show, at their discretion, any photography, audio and video recordings, and other reproductions of them made at the venue or on the water from the time of their arrival at the venue, until their final departure, without compensation.
VENUE
The venue will be at the Lansing Sailing Club, 6039 East Lake Drive, Haslett, MI 48840.
Parking is limited at the venue so please car pool if possible.
If the parking lot fills at the Lansing Sailing Club, parking is available along Lake Drive. Please do not park on the bike lane.
