Welcome to Lightning Fleet 387
We've been racing Lightnings at Lansing Sailing Club for decades. Fleet 387 is comprised of LSC-owned and member-sailed club boats (3) and member-owned Lightnings. Lightnings are a 3-person dinghy that can seat up to four adults for day sailing and raced with three crew. The Lightning is a fun sporty boat but it's not too wet or athletic to appeal to older sailors and younger sailors.
We race within the Michigan Lightning District, and there are fleets all over the state of Michigan. Some are more active than others, and there is a fairly full "away" regatta schedule. Each away regatta has it's own flavor and fun experience. We will post past event reports here. You can sail just at Lansing Sailing Club or take your boat on the road!
Lightnings vary in price with older "project" boats for under $2,000 and brand new boats upwards of $24,000. Most mid-range boats in the $5,000 - $10,000 range offer modern rigging and competitive hull weights for racing.
LSC has three club-owned boats, one is in excellent racing condition, two are in good racing condition, all have modern rigging and flotation systems.
