Sailing Season officially begins April 12th

Docks In is April 12th, can sailing season be too far behind? As we float the docks, prep the club for sailing, we still have a lot of work to do. Over the next few weeks, the "big" club boats (Lightnings and Wayfarers) will be rigged and readied, placed on lifts, their covers are getting cleaned and repaired this weekend offsite. Small club boats will be inventoried and readied for the season, big powerboats for racing will be cleaned and engines readied. Many hands make light work - make sure you get to Docks In on the 12th or one of our other spring work parties.
Our first sailing activities include a "Get your Boat Ready" day where Lightning owners and crews can set up and tune their boats on Sunday April 27th. New crew or those interested in seeing the Lightnings or learning about crewing (no experience necessary!) can join us. We will assemble boats and get them ready from 3-6 and have a BYO barbecue following (weather permitting). We begin racing May 4, take a Sunday off for Mother's Day May 11, and return to racing on May 18th.
The Lightning regatta and the Wayfarer regatta are the same day, Saturday May 17th - Lightnings are racing at LSC but Wayfarers wanted a lake more south/east for their out-of-town fleets and will be racing at Wampler's Lake in far southern Michigan.
Lasers and Sunfish begin racing the Wednesday after Memorial Day. Looking ahead, we have the Memorial Day picnic on, you guessed it, Memorial Day Monday and that officially kicks off our summer.
It's here! It's finally here! Sailing Season is HERE! Make your plans to get out to the club, not only for racing, but for sailing, for barbecuing, for enjoying a bonfire in the fire pit, or just hanging out for a sunset. We have THE ONLY waterfront dining experience in the area - you bring the food and the club provides the ambiance.
