Dropoff/Pickup - Classes have a 15 minute drop-off window before, and 15 minute pickup window after.

Repeats - Students are of course free to repeat a class they have been in before.

Intro to Sailing is for youth who are new to sailing, or need to review the basics - rigging and basic boat-handling, and basic rules of the road, and safety.

Intermediate Sailing 1 & 2  are one single combined class, using two and three person sailboats. Instructors assign students to a level based on whether they are ready to crew, or skipper the boat.

Intermediate Sailing 1
is for youth who have taken a sailing class before, with us or elsewhere - building on the basics for more confident boat control and sailing skills. Emphasis is on crewing the front spot on a sailboat.

Intermediate Sailing 2 challenges youth sailors with more sailing techniques, such as spinnaker, crew teamwork, decision making, and a taste of racing fun. Emphasis is on skippering (steering) a sailboat.

Afternoon Racing Clinic is a training for youth sailors in the fun and challenging sport of racing, on Club-owned 420 Sailboats, the class of boats used by our Fall/Spring High School Racing Teams and the MSU Collegiate racing team. Best for youth who have taken a sailing class before, with us or elsewhere.

All these classes may be repeated by a student, and instructors may switch a student to a less or more challenging concurrent class if more suitable. Intermediate classes are best for youth who have a basic understanding of sailing and/or have taken our junior sailing classes before.

Only one child at a time can be registered, but they can be registered for multiple weeks. After you have paid, you may register another child by starting the process over again.

Minimum physical and language requirements to operate and move on a sailboat, and understand and respond to directions from instructors must be met by student. These classes have both on-shore and on-the-water components. Safety considerations make it necessary that students remain in scheduled activities, in the locations in which they occur, and pay attention to instruction. Your child is responsible for their own belongings (please labeLwith their name). Cell phones will be stowed by the student during classes, and attention paid to the instruction. If a child cannot or refuses to participate in on the water activities, or remain in their group and location on shore, disrupts classes, or engages in inappropriate or illegal activities, parents will be contacted, and may be requested to pickup child early.

Your bringing of your child to classes is an indication your child is healthy. If your child is ill, or recently exposed to infectious disease, please let us know they will be absent, and do not bring them to class.

It is expected children may crew on a boat with another child or coach, as part of the learning process.
