Youth Sailing Teams - Fall 2020 - Spring 2021

High School Sailing is adventure, teamwork, and competition - training and racing locally in the Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA), with other students and schools in the Midwest (and potentially across the U.S.) -- it's the fastest growing High School sport in the midwest! Two racers per boat means that someone new to sailing can get out on the water with a more experienced sailor right away. It is co-ed and goes from 7th - 12th grade.

We practice and train at Lake Lansing, and compete at Regattas within driving distance around Michigan.

It's fun and challenging both for experienced athletes and for students who have never sailed before or have never competed in any kind of sports. It is highly intellectual and physical, and allows co-ed competition between different ages.

It’s competition, adventure, fun, memories, friendship, and a great introduction to a life-long and very practical sport.

Open to 7-12th Grade students in Public or Private School, Homeschooling, and exchange students.Open to 7-12th Grade students in Public or Private School, Homeschooling, and exchange students.

Minimum physical and language requirements to operate and move on a sailboat, and understand and respond to directions from instructors must be met by student. Practices and competitions have both on-shore and on-the-water components. Covid-19 program considerations make it especially necessary that students remain in scheduled activities, in the locations in which they occur. If a child cannot or refuses to participate in on the water activities, or remain in their group and location on shore, cannot respectfully interact with fellow racers and coaches, parents may be contacted to pickup child early, and child.

Parents must be comfortable with their child crewing a 13-19ft sailboat with another child. Per current State rules for sports, child must have a mask or buff in their possession, and wear when required.
